Twenty-two churches in the dataset had also commissioned an outside consulting engagement within the prior 18 months. We compared what the consultants found against what MSTRD's multi-voice survey found for the same churches over the same period.
The substance overlapped in the large majority of cases — the same two or three dimensions came up as the churches' real constraint. The difference was mostly delivery: a consultant's report can name a problem gently, in a room, over months; a quarterly score has to say it in a number.
